The sitter's face is angled to the left as viewed, the eyes regarding viewer. Hjrne is shown wearing a shoulder length wig and a neck cloth or cravat. Portrait frontispiece to Actorum chymicorum Holmiensium Parasceve, id est praeparatio ad tentamina in Regio Laboratorio Holmiensi peracta by Urban Hierne (Stockholm, J. H. Werner, 1712). The plate is inscribed
