This is a framed fragment of a Hudson River School painting, oil on canvas, mid 19th century I believe, framed here under glass, as found. I do believe it is the Hudson here, and with a view to what I presume are the Catskill mountains in the distance. And with a bit of architecture tucked in under the soaring trees at near left, as typical: the American landscape as a pastoral setting, where human beings and nature
