Rare N.K Fairbank Lard 1880s Trade Card antique merits I believe the animal depicted

I believe the animal depicted on the lid of this beautiful presumed Japanese lacquer box is a Shi-shi or Shisa dog-- a creature resembling a cross between a lion and a dog that derives from Okinawan mythology and is perceived to be a ward protecting from evils

The sign measures approximately 11 7/8" tall x 3 1/2" wide

and white on this one showing a merger of the two

maybe a few a bit older

I love the warm glow of light in this one but simultaneous sense of moodiness--and I can't help but to imagine walking through what looks like a portal into the interior of that rock formation

Rare N.K Fairbank Lard 1880s Trade Card antique merits I believe the animal depictedReally a fun one, and while I have found some other (quite collectible) Fairbank Lard trade cards online, I have not found a match of this one, which dates to the 1880s, and features a pretty charming angel winged piggy declaring: "I want to be an angel, although to die is hard, but oh the bliss, to think of this, I'll make good Fairbank Lard."!!! 4 3 8" x 3". A little tearing along the right edge but otherwise very good condition. Blank back.
