Michael Sadleir (1888-1957), British novelist Four Vases of Varying flowers by Osias Beert the Elder Possibly a reference to RichardMichael Sadleir (1888 1957), British novelist, early 20th century. Sadleir was born Michael Sadler but he changed the spelling of his name to differentiate himself from his father, Michael Ernest Sadler. His best known novel is Fanny by Gaslight (1940), filmed in 1944, a fictional exploration of prostitution in Victorian London.
