The seller I purchased it from described it as dancers at a USO event, WW2 era, and surely this dancer with skirt aloft must have pleased the troops! But while that fresh faced young woman and the twirl of her raised skirt are gorgeous, what really makes this photo for me the is the presence of the second dancer, back turned and body bent in a movement that feels much more Martha Graham than Marilyn Monroe.
