Pretty Treen Canister with Rounded Lid FLT I understand from the seller

I understand from the seller I purchased this from that the artist was an employee at the Bedford National Bank in Bedford

It's as much a sculpture as a vessel

and the straw bristles tightly wrapped (I believe by hand) with wire and in great shape

Signed on the bottom with what looks like Jani 1997

but decided to remove it to take a closer look

Pretty Treen Canister with Rounded Lid FLT I understand from the sellerI'm not sure what this treen canister was made to hold, but it's a lovely thing, and could now house matches, or q tips, or whatever. Earlyish 20th century I would think, and in great condition. The lid slides on; it is not threaded. 4" tall x 2 1 8" in diameter.
