Having spent a couple of years on a farm feeding chickens and other farm animals (goats are the craziest
and this young man's face I think has a bit of a Modigliani aspect
including what looks a bit like a chip along the lip glazed over)
21” x 9” x 5/8” d and in very good vintage condition
It dates to the 1860s or 70--previously manufactured by John S Hodgkinson of Philadelphia

He seems to me, though, with arms and feet in first position, ready to rise on his toes and spring to life as a ballet dancer.
