Description
and spicy new oak
A distinctly smoky nose displays notes of various citrus and floral elements that add breadth to the mostly white orchard fruit scents
blackcurrant
baked black berries and preserved plums with hints of licorice
This is evolving glacially and certainly much slower than I originally foresaw but it should be a stunner of a Clos de Vougeot when it finally reaches its peak
Philippe Pacalet, Pommard Vintage:2017 and spicy new oak(from Les Trois Follots, Les Vaumuriens, Rugiens Hauts villages and La Vache). Ripe and very fresh aromas blend notes of red and dark pinot fruit with those of violet and cool earth. There is outstanding intensity to the rather refined medium weight flavors that exude a subtle minerality on the youthfully austere finish that also could use a bit more depth to achieve the upper end of my projected range.
