The glazing is great too--a purplish-gray that is subtle but cheerful

with great details from that sculptural hair to bangled wrists to fancy heels

Folk Art Pyrographed Flying Pheasant on Fungus Conk cowboy The year 1855 appears onI found a great fungus conk pyrographed with an owl a month or two ago by the same maker that signed this one, both of which I purchased from the same dealer. As with that one, I love how this flying game bird, a pheasant I would guess, looks rather as if it emerged from the fungus conk itself, always there, and as roughly rendered as the craggy back side of the conk.
