I'd guess this piece is quite old

It stands steady on the base and is in very good vintage condition

The brighter blue one sits on a short crossbar attached to its long steel post and "flies" pretty straight

Skillfully carved with a lovely intricacy to the neck of the bottle and "walls" at either end of the cage

which I assume is when the 1941 date was noted on the back

This butterfly shaped needle book needle keep is a perfect case in point I think, the hand painted exterior made of a canvas type material which gives it a nice stiffness and weight, and then green felt body at center and green felt lining, with one little page inside for needles. Id be inclined to lie it flat and pop it in a frame, or just pin it
