This guy looks to me as if he just rode into town with some schemes up his sleeve or snake oil to sell--quite a character

At some point it must have been glued to a base or part of some larger scenario

the drawing here is mounted with (removable) archival tape to a piece of onionskin writing paper that matches it nearly exactly in color and which I wrapped around a piece of board for structure and then plugged with foam core and taped on the reverse side

to the framing on one top window on the right side

and the careful writing of VALENTINE

The embroidery hand dyed silk thread on laid paper is an early one, early 19th century I believe, depicting my personal favorite Biblical scene, "the Visitation," when Mary, pregnant with Jesus, visits her cousin Elizabeth, who was pregnant with John the Baptist.
