Penfolds, Grange Vintage:2006 Here there is no such

Here there is no such reductive funkiness as a cool and airy nose offers up notes of Asian-style tea

the vineyard is so steep here that it must be worked entirely by hand as tractors would be dangerous to use)

this may be the most under rated wine in the de Montille portfolio with its ripe

but it does so minus that delicate floral embroidery that comes forth with such delight in 2013

lavender and dried flowers are laced into the finish

Penfolds, Grange Vintage:2006 Here there is no suchGago opened two bottles of this wine, both of which showed signs of past seepage, hence my question mark after the rating. I suspect pristine bottles will show better than these did. A bit mossy and sullen, the 2004 Grange is going through a cranky adolescence. Mocha, cedar and dark fruit on the nose are echoed on the palate of this full bodied, concentrated wine. It's dark and rich, just needs another 5 6 years to emerge on the other side.
