and the binding is pretty rough—but it’s a rare one

as its maker saw an alligator in there just waiting to be coaxed out

showing now as a lovely soft purple-blue

One is a rooster, the other a hen, and so a pair of barnyard lovebirds! Double sided, with watercolored combs and wattles and claws, and graphite drawn eyes and beaks. Most definitely frame worth.
