And the unpainted wood is a really wonderful warm brown, which makes it feel simultaneously stately and rather coziness inducing. There are a total of six chip carved layers (five stacked on top of the base layer) and what I believe is its original glass (which I removed to photograph it) with a sturdily attached wired
