I might guess some of the value of this card has come from the (mis)association of the two

then carefully cut out and pasted onto card

the perfect logo in my opinion

By viewing the text from an angle (holding it almost flat on its side), all those abstract lines form words. Here, it reads "Van Everens Visiting Cards" from one direction, and then "Central" from the short side, and then "Grand" and "Hotel" from the corner angles.
