with every beam and shingle and latch attended to

the village on the Hudson which changed its name to Ossining in 1901 to separate itself from the notorious prison

or so I’d guess

and have been looking at

Folk Art Watercolor of Houses on Hill hand-embroidered sleeve The wood is a darkI was quite surprised and delighted to find this one when rummaging through a box of odds and ends at a not especially fine shop about 30 minutes from home the other day, but wonders never cease! It is a small one, but definitely an early one, c. 1820s 30s I believe, and I'd bet painted of a village not far from here. Great color, iconic New England, and based on how it was trimmed I'm sure it once lived in a miniature type frame with round opening,
