City Imperial Volunteers mb-code 1238935 'Cherry-ripe'The City Imperial Volunteers, 1902. They are assembled in Guildhall on their return from South Africa, October 29, 1900. The Volunteers were recieved by Sir Alfred Newton, Lord Mayor, Aldermen, and members of the Court of Common Council and high officers can be seen wearing their official robes. The first detachment of Volunteers had embarked in January 1900 to take part in the second Boer War.
