James Buchanan licensed victualler Brown's work focused on lunarJames Buchanan, 15th President of the United States of America, 19th century. Buchanan (1791 1868) was president from 1857 until 1861. His presidency saw the issue of slavery dominate politics, culminating in the secession of six southern slave owning states.
