During World War II he served as a Temporary Major in the Royal Artillery and after being relieved from active duty due to age he joined the 7th Wilts Home Guard as a Trooper and served with them for the remainder of the war

then struck off strength to the Garrison Gymnasium at Seaford on October 30th
