Constructed of blackened magnetic iron, consisting of a circular oak leaf wreath, joined together at the bottom of the obverse by a NSDAP style German national eagle clutching a wreathed mobile swastika and on the reverse by a Sturmabteilung (SA) insignia, the obverse bearing a raised horse, the reverse bearing a raised inscription of FR VERDIENSTE UM DIE WEHRHAFTE ERTCHTIGUNG DER DEUTSCHEN REITERJUGEND (FOR MERIT
