Germany, Wehrmacht. A 1939 Iron Cross I Class Hold marked "ST" (sterling silver) on(Eisernes Kreuz 1939 I. Klasse). Reinstituted 1 September 1939. (1939 1945 issue). A Cross Patte of multi piece construction, with a blackened magnetic iron core within a ribbed silver border, the obverse with a raised central mobile swastika with the re institution date 1939 in raised numbering on the lower arm, the reverse plain with a barrel hinge and vertical banjo style pinback meeting a flat wire catch, unmarked, measuring 44. 15 mm (w) x 44. 24
