Instituted 22 March 1871 by King Kaiser Wilhelm I. (1871 issue). Constructed of silver with multi coloured enamels, consisting of a Cross Patte with a fine quality black enameled core, the obverse bearing a central raised Geneca Cross executed in red and white enamels, the reverse bearing a central engraved and silvered monogram of King Kaiser Wilhelm and Queen Kaiserin Augusta, the six oclock arm
