This is a very well preserved, late war Waffen SS M43 field cap, constructed of field grey wool twill. The cap features fold down side panels, providing ear and neck protection for the wearer. When not in use, the panels are held in place by an dual vertically arranged black bakelite buttons on the right panel meeting analogous buttonholes on the left panel.
