The detour through his hometown presumably means that there is in fact no mission and that Matthiessen is just fleeing back home so as to not be captured by Russian forces

Constructed of aluminum, consisting of a biplane with a mobile swastika on the tail, the reverse with both attachment prongs intact, unmarked, measuring 65 mm (w) 40 mm, in near extremely fine condition.
