Many an evening of musical entertainment was enjoyed in the homes of both middle and upper classes
Portrait of Hans Sloane (1660-1753) prince of baden 'The Irish Vampire'Head and shoulders portrait of Sir Hans Slone in a painted oval, body turned to the left as viewed. Sloane wears a shoulder length grey wig, brown coat and has a white lace trimmed neck cloth. Hans Sloane was elected a Fellow of the Royal Society in 1685, he served as its President from 1727 to 1741. Original: oil on canvas, 762x629mm. 1716
