It is fully surrounded by fold down side panels, gently sloping toward the front. Stitched onto the peak of the cap is an insignia consisting of a dark grey wool backer bearing a machine embroidered silver grey Luftwaffe eagle clutching a mobile swastika, measuring 75 mm (w) x 40 mm (h) overall.
