I imagine this sweet woodblock was carved by a member of a boy scout troop in the 1940s or so

it features a terrific female figure at the top in a voluminous robe holding an opened book

and would be wonderful on the bedside table

The basketry covering the jug is woven of flat wicker splints, and the handle is wrapped, twisted and woven at the neck of the bottle, and then smartly looped through the weave of the basket below. Easy to pop a cork in this and use it as a jug to take on picnics and to football games, or keep it on the table filled with water or red wine! 10 tall; 4 1 4
