Description
Really a beautiful piece from top to bottom
and the irregularity of the edge of the black paint makes me think it was made to please its maker rather than for sale
I assume in the 1970s or so
but with no tears otherwise and a gorgeous patina to the leather on both sides
It was made from a fairly thick slab of clay
Wabanaki Sweetgrass Basket Pin Cushion Moxie memorabilia Really a beautiful piece fromI'm becoming a sucker for a sweet pin cushion, in addition to a nice Northeast Coast Native basket, so of course I love this little combination of the two! I believe this one dates to the early 20th century, with the basket woven of sweet grass on a naturally green dyed splint ash structure and the pin cushion a rosy pink velvet. It has seen some use, with small holes in the velvet, but has plenty of years of use in it yet. 2 3 4" diameter x 1 3 8"
