It entered service with the Royal Air Force in 1959 as a trainer but the type was exported to other countries as a fighter aircraft
It was introduced to the USAF as a supersonic interceptor in February 1958 and saw service in Vietnam
The B variant is the short take-off and vertical landing type that is operated by the Royal Air Force
It was the predecessor of the P40 so didn't see much action with the USAAC
