Kkonde Brasio

My name is Kkonde Brasio and I am the Senior Social Worker at Sanyu. I have been working at Sanyu since 2012. My job at Sanyu involves receiving the abandoned babies, carrying out investigations and reuniting the children with biological parents, aunts, uncles and grandparents where possible. I do comprehensive home assessments for those people who wish to adopt a child to ensure that the prospective parents have the right intentions and have the time and love needed to bring up a child. My job also involves going to court and I process care orders for the children. I keep files for all of the children and keep them up to date with the progress made in that child’s case. I do newspaper adverts to see if anyone will come forward with any final information about a child before a child is able to be fostered. I monitor the children who have been reunited or fostered closely for the first year and do post placement visits to check how the child is doing.

I was excited to hear about Joy of Learning. We always love to reunite children but we have a big challenge. Most families can afford food, but when it comes to schooling… a child could grow up to 8 years and have never attended school. I feel happy. There are so many children that are going to benefit and their lives are not going to remain the same. I feel a lot of happiness, I feel joy!
